Fitness Training- Michelle Steenhuis Style.

 

Fitness for me is about feeling good, strong and capable of reaching for my goals. It’s about being healthy, pain free, moving well, having ALL the energy and constantly learning new ways to enjoy and improve movement.

With my style of training I encourage you to think outside of the box and explore different ways to move and have fun with the process. It’s more than the time spent in a gym, it’s about creating lifestyle changes that can be integrated into your everyday life.

As a coach I know that fitness isn’t fun or enjoyable for everyone, that it’s not easy for a lot of people to take even the first step, but I also know the importance of encouraging the smallest of steps to make sustainable, long term lifestyle changes for a more enjoyable existence.

The skills I’ve taken from the various training methods I’ve studied and practiced over the years have been combined into my own style; a blend of Bodyweight/Calisthenics Training, Hard Style Kettlebells and Animal Flow.

All of these disciplines are based on full body movement patterns, moving in multiple directions, at different speed with control and discipline maintaining the goal to help you move and feel better.

Most humans spend their time seated for their work, then go home to only sit again in front of a television or computer.

Simply put, this sedentary lifestyle creates imbalances through the body that leaves us with shortened muscles in the front and lengthened/ relaxed muscles in the back leaving us with tightness, pain and discomfort as we age. It’s true - if we don’t use it, we lose it.

My training acknowledges that this lifestyle is often unavoidable but the movements we work on address weakness and imbalances within your body; combining both strength and mobility movements each session for an efficient and effective use of our time.
